JOB DESCRIPTION:
- This project involves the permitting, design, engineering, construction, commissioning and operation of one to three wind turbines. The wind project is currently in the permitting and preliminary design/engineering phase. During this phase, the Construction Manager is generally responsible for working with the engineering team and potential contractors to optimize the design, and to develop the methods, schedule and costs for constructing and commissioning the wind project. During this phase of the project, the Construction Manager would be located in Cincinnati, OH, with the engineering, procurement and project management teams. Construction Manager will be located at the site in North Carolina during construction.
- Once the project mobilizes to the site, the Construction Manager’s responsibilities would involve overseeing the construction activities of the selected contractor(s) and turbine supplier for compliance with environmental, health and safety (EH&S) requirements and procedures, conformance of completed work to approved specifications and drawings, utilization of appropriate construction work practices and techniques, and proper planning and execution to meet the schedule. The Construction Manager would provide day-to-day direction and management of field engineers, who will be assigned to the project to assist the Construction Manager in accomplishing these responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction, modification and/or retrofit of power plant or other large industrial facilities, and at least five years in a construction management position and including in-water construction projects (e.g., bridge construction)
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a project team.
- Demonstrated ability to effect change in safety, quality, efficiency and/or effectiveness in the work of others, without adversely affecting the team’s productivity or morale.
- Knowledgeable of commonly-accepted construction safety and work practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Ability to safely lift items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, and be on elevated work areas.
- Ability to be on feet most of the day.
- Knowledge of critical path method of scheduling.
- Good computer skills (i.e., familiarity with the use of Microsoft Office software and Outlook E-Mail software).
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Write Daily Construction Reports when construction starts
- Provide weekly schedule updates during construction
- Assure all required inspections, reports, certificates, etc. are completed correctly and timely
- Assure safety program is followed and adhered to and daily JHA are occurring
