JOB TITLE: Central Metrology Lab (CML) Technician
LOCATION: Indianapolis
Job Description: Serves as a technical resource to assist lab managers and engineers in the use, maintenance, installation of Maximo Gage management system both within Southern Indiana and other Company facilities. This will include moving data into Maximo from other gage management softwares as well as providing training as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform high precision dimensional measurements using
CNC measurement systems such as Coordinate Measurement Machines and form
measurement gauges
Provide basic programming support of CNC measuring
instruments/gauges as needed
Perform hand gauge calibrations of torque wrenches,
dial indicators, etc. that support the Light Duty Diesel technical center
Help provide technical review/interpretation of
measurement data and gauge calibration data to CML customers.
Manage the maintenance of CML traceability by
scheduling internal and external calibrations and ensuring they are
performed in a timely manner. Schedule and perform weekly/monthly checks of
appropriate equipment etc.
Perform/participate in gauge capability studies of new
gauging prior to release to production, inter-laboratory comparisons and
measurement assurance programs
Provide technical assistance to CGL Engineers in the
development of new measurement and calibrations processes/procedures and
document these procedures as appropriate
Provide training on CML measurement/calibration
processes and procedures to other CML personnel and customers as needed
Act as a technical resource in the day-to-day CML
operations, work with the operations, engineering and quality staff to
provide technical measurement and gauge support were needed
Schedule outside gage calibration and maintain records
in compliance with TS16949 requirements
Request quotes from CML suppliers, review with engineer
as needed as write purchase requisitions
Perform electrical fabrication of interface cables,
measurement cabling, etc as needed
Demonstrate a cooperative and businesslike attitude
Communicate with internal and external
customers/suppliers in a professional manner
Deliver on commitments
Maintain confidential information
Cooperate with safety audits, comply with OSHA
requirement and report unsafe activities promptly
Help to maintain the housekeeping level in their work
area in keeping with a high precision gauge calibration environment
Project a positive professional image
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Associates from an Abet accredited School or Bachelor’s in Technology
