JOB TITLE: Strategic Buyer

JOB DESCRIPTION: Reporting
to the Director of Strategic Sourcing, this key position is responsible for the
management of all activities associated with the assigned global suppliers,
commodities and/or services. This position will provide full responsibility and
leadership for assigned spend categories, working closely with multiple business
units, developing strategies and coordinating on a global basis all related
supply chain activities to assure that cost and value-added requirements are
met. This position will assure business unit program participation, adherence to
and acceptance of agreed upon strategic sourcing initiatives associated with
assigned spend categories. Additionally, this position will proactively monitor
and evaluate specific market conditions communicating and in concert with the
business units develop countermeasures as required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establishes
division level procurement strategies for assigned spend, collaborates to
insure incorporation and business unit participation.
- Champion of the
Strategic Sourcing processes, ensures consistent application of processes,
drives strategic thinking within the supply chain organization.
- Oversees all activities
related to the management of assigned spend, from intent to purchase through
delivery of commodity/service
- Recruit, maintain
and manager world-class suppliers with focus on total systems cost
improvements while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
- Plans, organizes,
directs, controls and communicates all strategic sourcing activities related
to assigned spend.
- Drives
participation on Global Supply Chain advisory team assuring coordination and
communication of agreed upon activities.
- Proactively and
routinely drives spend analysis activities identifying strategic sourcing
opportunities within assigned commodities and throughout the SC environment
where applicable.
- Prepares and
reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal
correctness, terms/conditions, and acceptability of items to specifications.
- Develops a system
to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and
purchasing techniques to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service across
multiple global locations.
- Negotiate or
supervise the negotiation of complex requests for products, equipment,
supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Analyzes market
and delivery conditions to determine present and future (industry trends in
pricing and availability that will impact the business) material
availability, and prepares market analysis reports.
- Proactively
establishes and implements countermeasures to negative market trends and
missed objective performance.
- Jointly develop
and monitor with Group Level SC leaders adherence to agreed upon policies
and procedures.
- Support
development and implementation of enabling technologies.
- Drives innovation
and a focus on continuous improvement within the supply chain organization.
- Designs,
implement, manage and monitor procurement reporting systems to assure
company requirements are attained.
- Responsible for
timely reporting to agreed upon KPI's and presenting Strategic Sourcing
plans and activities
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- BA or BS degree
preferably in technical competency, minimum in a business/industrial related
field
- 5-7 years
procurement related experience, C.P.M. or C.P.I.M. certification a plus
- Proficient in
Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
- Demonstrated
understanding of lean principles and demand flow techniques
- Analytical-Ability
to analyze strategic options and their direct potential and indirect impact
on the organization
- Commodity and
market expert, high level of technical competency
- Project
management and problem solving skills
- Opportunity
analysis, spend analysis, RFQ package preparation, and blueprint reading
experience highly preferred
- Demonstrated
supplier management skills
- Must be able to
work and effectively communicate with all levels of the company and
suppliers.
- Leads and
effectively manages cross functional teams
- Drives for
continuous improvement
- Effectively works
under a matrix management structure
