JOB TITLE: Global Supply Chain Supervisor
LOCATION: Indianapolis
JOB DESCRIPTION: Supervise a medium sized group of hourly employees (10-25) functioning in the areas of material handling, inventory, and production control activities while promoting the use of "lean materials management" practices. Specific activities may also include receiving, shipping, and warehouse management activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Health and Safety
Conduct required monthly safety talks and presentations with departmental employees and perform weekly safety audits in area of responsibility providing timely corrective action on deficiencies
Train, instruct, and enforce general plant health and safety policies with emphasis on safe operating practices with Material Stacking and Storing Policies and Dock Procedures
Promote and maintain excellent housekeeping practices
Quality Improvement
Conduct daily layered audits and correct execution issues
Ensure proper material identification, containment and disposition of nonconforming material in area of responsibility
Monitor packaging and containerization and address issues that may contribute to contamination or damaged material
Manage internal controls and process risk management requirements
People Involvement
Demonstrate consistent leadership, positive attitude and flexibility with job assignment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required and must have strong team building skills and ability to work in cross functional team environment
Promote and administer timely disposition of the employee suggestion program
Comply with the local and national UAW labor contract agreements
Responsiveness
Strong background and knowledge of MRP systems with emphasis on inventory management and scheduling systems
Knowledgeable of Lean Material Management principles and Kanban processes to support Lean Manufacturing
Effectively manage material handling with FIFO control including receiving, material storage, line stocking, and material movement
Maintain strong communication, relationship, and interaction with all internal suppliers and customers to ensure on time delivery of customer demand
Assist with executing engineering changes minimizing excess and obsolete material
Cost Control
Meet departmental budgeted financial targets
Optimize inventory turns, supplies, equipment and manpower utilization
Monitor absenteeism and minimize overtime
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have strong interpersonal, computer, team building, and analytical skills
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Materials Management and/or Warehouse and Inventory Management industry.
