JOB TITLE: Materials Control Manager
LOCATION: Indianapolis
JOB DESCRIPTION: Incumbent is responsible for short and longer term project management of materials, supply chain and purchasing activities that directly support plant operations and financial goals and targets. This role will work in parallel with the Materials Manager and the Production/Planning Manager to positively affect On-Time Delivery (OTD), product availability and inventory management/turns for the business.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage
plant purchasing
Hands-on
procurement of materials for plant operations
Develop
and maintain positive working relationships between materials, purchasing,
quality, operations and all other departments.
Develop
and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers.
Promote
the concept of Lean Manufacturing (safety, cost, quality and delivery) and
Continuous Improvement
Manage
cost reduction programs
Maintain
update inventory/materials systems information
Partner
with purchasing group to continuously improve supplier quality and
lead-time.
Develop
an expedited communication flow with suppliers when delivery or quality
issues develop.
Manage
the manufacturing planning team.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical
competences in database management and other electronic systems
Flexible
and adaptable to change and improvements
Ability
to drive change and develop and deploy new techniques and new practices
Multifunctional
management abilities and experience
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in materials management, planning, master scheduling, purchasing, lean manufacturing, etc.
