JOB TITLE:  Test Stand Mechanical Technician

LOCATION: Indianapolis

JOB DESCRIPTION: Mechanically sets up and installs engines into test stands. Work includes mounting, configuring, instrumentation and installing engines. Additionally will troubleshoot engine problems and oversee repairs. Candidate will install and maintain other test equipment, operate test stands, fabricate fixtures and brackets for test setups and troubleshoot test stand problems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the design and planning of test setups
• Configure & prep diesel and gasoline engines for test programs
• Install engines and test setups from drawings and/or instructions
• Fabricate simple fixtures and brackets
• Set up/build test stands per drawings, includes transmissions, engines, dynes, brackets, instrumentation
• Select, install and operate instrumentation
• Make calculations related to engine and transmission performance
• Oversee & guide repair of engines
• Troubleshoot diesel & gasoline engines and equipment problems
• Write reports and/or documentation
• Participate in program planning and/or status meetings
• Willingly share professional knowledge and experience with co-workers

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Technology Associate degree/or equivalent experience required
• Diesel and Gasoline engine (both electronically and mechanically controlled) repair and overhaul experience required
• Proficiency in written and spoken English required
• Understanding of electronic/electrical principles required and experience with engine electronic controls preferred
• Ability to perform arithmetic and algebraic calculations required
• Experience in mechanical field required
• Ability to read drawings required
